An Important Message About Short-Term Trips for 2020

Short-term mission trips have been a part of College Church's history since 1990. And you, the congregation, have been faithful to prayerfully and financially support these opportunities that help to show team members the world from God’s perspective. Many from these teams have pursued God's calling on their lives to serve as short- or long-term missionaries as a result of a team experience. Missionaries, ministry partners and the global church have been encouraged to press on in their service for the Lord. Thank you for your partnership.

Regrettably, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Board of Missions was faced with a difficult, but necessary, decision to cancel all 2020 trips. As of today (March 23), please discontinue all contributions designated to the 2020 short-term teams.

For those of you who've already given, we will be in contact with you for next steps with your contribution. Online giving for the teams only will be suspended on the church's website effective immediately. However, you may continue your regular giving online for general church missions and ministry.

Thank you for your support and patience as we work through the implications of this decision. We appreciate your continued prayers for our missionaries and ministry workers as they continue to serve. May we all be ready to share the hope we have in Jesus with a hurting and confused world right where we are, and at this moment in time.

Trusting in Christ alone,

Curt Miller, Missions Pastor

Short-Term Missions Initiatives

MINISTRY PHILOSOPHY

We believe that those who participate in a cross-cultural or domestic ministry experience--adults and youth alike--begin to develop a great Christian maturity and become not only more committed to ministry and global missions but also more effective church members who actively engage in praying, going and/or sending.

HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED WITH OUR 2020 TEAMS:

  • Pray for our leaders, team members and ministry partners in the coming months as they all prepare to serve.
  • Consider how God would lead you to give toward the expenses of these trips. Contact stm@college-church.org for more information.
  • Do you have a special skill that would help these teams with culture, language learning or overseas experiences in their destination countries? Contact Marilyn in the Missions Office to volunteer your services.
