January is Sanctity of Human Life month and on Sunday, January 13th, College Church will join thousands of people from Chicagoland in a peaceful march through the streets of Chicago, taking a public stand for the value of human life and against abortion.
The march takes place in downtown Chicago and will start at the Federal Plaza (50 W Adams) with a rally and speakers. For more information from the organizers, visit www.marchforlife-chicago.org/. .
A chartered bus will depart from the church at 12:15 PM on Sunday, January 13th, and return around 5 PM. Please reserve a spot on the bus by clicking the link below before December 31! Families are welcome! We will meet in the Fireside Room outside the sanctuary right after the 11 AM service.
Plan to eat before 12:15PM or bring your lunch on the bus. And dress warm! We will send out more details and reminders the week before the event.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. –Psalm 139:13-14
We believe that all human life is made in God’s image and is valuable to God. In particular, we believe that advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable in our society, the preborn, is a vital and worthwhile task. We also recognize that abortion has affected many in our communities and that healing is found in Jesus alone.
Here are some ways to get involved:
Sanctity of Human Life (SOHL) Task Force: The Sanctity of Human Life Task Force is a group of people at College Church committed to praying for men and women in our community who are considering or have experienced abortion, praying for those directly involved in advocating for the unborn (individuals, pro-life organizations, authors, legislators), and educating and mobilizing our church to join in efforts to uphold and defend the value of human life. The SOHL Task Force typically meets at church one Sunday per month at 12:45 PM to pray, to exchange updates and information related to the sanctity of human life, and to plan different ways to involve our church community in these efforts.
To join the SOHL meetings, or for more general information, contact email@example.com
Caring Network Ministry (formerly CareNet Dupage): Caring Network is a pregnancy center that has been providing support to women and men for more than forty years. From professional guidance, resources and ultrasounds, Caring Network is a ministry that comes alongside individuals facing unplanned pregnancies and offers both free medical services and spiritual guidance. On top of this, Caring Network also offers free confidential post-abortion care and support with Restore After Abortion. Caring Network is a ministry partner of College Church which we support financially each year with the Coins for Caring Network baby bottle fundraiser in order to support the wide range of services that Caring Network provides to its clients.
Additionally, we support Caring Network’s Connection program, connecting moms-to-be with local church small groups, and we would love for your small group to get involved.
Learn: No matter what stage of life we're in, one thing we can always do is continue to learn. Below are a few recommended resources.
Pray: We believe that prayer is an indispensible act of advocacy, and we invite you to commit to praying regularly for an end to abortion in the United States. Pray regularly with others in your neighborhood, small group or Adult Community for an end to abortion. If you'd like to pray with others who are specifically passionate about abortion, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
