College Church has always meant people: people serving people. We are blessed with beautiful facilities, and are happy to serve the community by making our facilities available for rent when they are not in use for church ministry. The College Church complex is made up of two buildings on the north and south sides of Seminary Street, connected under the street by a tunnel. The north building houses the Sanctuary (seating for 960), the Fireside with kitchenette (theater seating for 60), and Welsh Hall (seating around tables for 100) with full kitchen. The south building, known as The Commons, contains Commons Hall (seating around tables for 500) with a full kitchen, a gymnasium with two regulation basketball courts, and a variety of classrooms.
Please consider these church policies as you think about having an event here:
Church Policies
1. For the safety of our people and our buildings, use of candles is restricted to church-owned hurricanes and pillar candles. Use of any other candles, including votives and tea lights, is prohibited in accordance with the Wheaton Fire Code.
2. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted anywhere on church premises.
3. No social dancing is permitted on College Church property.
4. We ask that you please avoid nuts, nut products, and nut oils in food served at functions in College Church to protect those with severe allergies.
5. Building hours are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Friday. Saturday events must be completed and ready for custodial tear down by 6:00 p.m. to permit College Church to prepare for ministry the next morning.
When inquiring about rental of College Church, please be prepared with the following information when you contact us: the date, time and size of your event, what part of the church facility you are interested in using, and any special needs you may have. It is a good idea to have alternate dates if possible.
WEDDINGS
If you are considering a wedding at College Church, please be aware that we regard as true that the purpose of marriage is the enrichment of the lives of those who enter into this estate, their purity and redemptive transformation, and the extension of Christ’s kingdom to the glory of God. Therefore, the Council of Elders sets forth the following requirements:
1. The prospective wedding party consists of one man and one woman. See Genesis 2:24.
2. Both the bride and groom are professing Christians.
3. Both the prospective bride and groom agree to College Church’s Articles of Faith and Standards of the Christian Life, and are not cohabitating prior to their marriage.
4. Either the bride and/or the groom is a member in good standing of College Church
or the bride and/or groom has been in regular attendance at worship services for at least six (6) months. Exceptions require specific approval of the Council of Elders.
