WORLD IMPACT

It is the goal of the high school ministry (HYACKS), in partnership with the Board of Missions and in cooperation with the Board of Christian Education, that high school students be given the opportunity to experience cross-cultural ministry. We believe that students who participate in such an experience begin to develop a greater Christian maturity, become more committed to global missions and will begin to seriously consider global missions as a career or lifelong pursuit.

Initiatives

  • To help team members become more informed and motivated to be “global” Christians.
  • To help team members gain a better understanding of what missionaries actually do by observing and assisting in their work in a cross-cultural setting.
  • To help team members become more actively involved in missions upon their return.

Purpose

The purpose of World Impact is to foster greater awareness and understanding of foreign and domestic missions within the high school program (HYACKS) of College Church by providing opportunities for high school students to participate in cross-cultural ministry.

Goals

  • SERVE our partners. Each team’s primary objective is to serve our missionaries and national partners–to propel their ministry forward through our assistance.
  • LEARN about the world. Every team member will learn about the culture & language of his host country, the state of the national church and the nature of cross-cultural work. These trips also foster closer relationships between our high schoolers and our colleagues worldwide.
  • GROW in Christ. High schoolers are challenged to grow in their faith in Christ, their confidence in sharing the Gospel and their awareness of how God is establishing and strengthening his church worldwide.
  • CONTINUE in missions. Serving on a missions team is another step in a lifetime of missions involvement. After the trip, high schoolers are encouraged to continue exploring ways that they can be involved in missions to maximize their gifts, skills and interests.

SERVE, LEARN, GROW, CONTINUE
