Then the King will say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." -Matthew 25:34-36.
Jesus' words in Matthew 25:31-46 provide the foundation for us to be committed to proclaiming the gospel and providing for practical needs of our community. We aim for holistic ministry to our neighbors, recognizing that relief aims towards development and sustainability.
We work with the following ministries:
DuPage Pads: We partner with DuPage Pads to help provide warm meals and interim housing throughout the year. DuPage Pads is committed to providing holistic solutions to end homelessness, including interim and permanent housing, case management, life coaching, employment support and job coaching. College Church provides volunteers to staff a shelter a few times each year. After serving dinner, volunteers have the opportunity to converse with the guests, who are homeless. Visit the DuPage Pads webpage or contact us for information on how to get involved.
Churches United for Hardship Assistance (CUHA) is an organization made up of member churches within the Wheaton area to provide assistance to individuals and families who visit churches looking for help. People referred to CUHA are assigned a personal case worker at Wheaton Youth Outreach. Needs are assessed and resources are found through various community agencies.
