Student Disabilities

Teen STARS Sunday Classes -  We believe God has made each and every child in his image. We provide a place for children with intellectual disabilities or sensory challenges to worship God and to learn more about Him. We use a variety of modalities and utilize the children's individual learning styles

          Who is invited: Teens ages 13 - 21 with intellectual disabilities or sensory needs that keep them from participating in

                  regular ministry classrooms.

          When: Every Sunday at 9:30 & 11 a.m.

          Where: Class room C001 in Lower Level 1 of the Commons Building.

 

Inclusion - We teach and disciple children with developmental disabilities to know Jesus as their Savior. We do this by providing a helper who accompanies and assists a disabled child in regular children's, youth and music ministries.

         

         Who is invited: Adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ages 16 and up) that do not need 1-1 assistance and need to be independent in routine

                  self-care.

          When: Sunday, 9:30 a.m. 11 a.m. and other times/days

          Where: Locations vary.

 

Praise in Action - Through this weekly program, STARS teens and adults enhance their musical abilites, praise God through singing and hand chimes and express God's story through drama and Scripture. This group performs publicly several times throughout the year.

 

          Who is invited: Teens and Adults ages 13 and over with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Reading ability is not required, but it is helpful for students to know their

                  colors.

          When: Wednesday evenings, 6:45–8:15 p.m. from September–May.

          Where: Class rooms C101 & C103 on the Main Level of the Commons Building.

        

Autoharp - STARS Teens and adults learn to play God's music on the AutoHarp. This group performs publicly several times throughout the year.

         

          Who is invited: Teens and adults ages 13 and over with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Reading ability is not required, but it is helpful for students to know their

                    colors. A limited number of autoharps are available for loan.

          When: Sunday evenings, 6:00–7:15 p.m. from September–May.

          Where: Class room C101 on the Main Level of the Commons Building.
